National Lottery Grant Supports New Stepping Stones Training Project

A New Opportunity for Our Residents
We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded £10,000 from the National Lottery Community Fund to support an exciting new project called Stepping Stones. This generous grant will help us create valuable education and training opportunities for residents living in our accommodation across Mansfield and Ashfield.
Stepping Stones has been designed to help people take positive steps towards a brighter, more independent future. By offering access to accredited vocational qualifications, the project will give residents the chance to build confidence, develop practical skills and work towards their personal and employment goals.
Learning While Living in Accommodation
One of the most important features of the project is that residents will be able to take part in training while continuing to live in our accommodation. This flexible approach will make it easier for people to access learning without facing some of the common barriers associated with returning to education.
For many residents, starting a course or working towards a qualification can feel like a major challenge. Stepping Stones will provide encouragement, guidance and a supportive environment, helping participants progress at a pace that feels manageable. Whether they are taking their first steps into vocational learning or looking to refresh existing skills, residents will have the opportunity to discover what they can achieve.
Building Skills and Confidence
Accredited qualifications can open doors to further education, volunteering and employment. However, the benefits of learning go beyond a certificate. Taking part in a structured course can help people improve their communication, organisation and problem-solving skills, while also building self-belief.
Through Stepping Stones, we hope residents will feel more confident about their abilities and more prepared to plan for the future. The project will encourage participants to recognise their strengths, celebrate their progress and develop the practical tools they need to move forward.
Launching in April 2023
We are currently in the process of setting up the training trial, with the launch planned for April 2023. There is lots to organise, from preparing learning opportunities to making sure residents receive the right support throughout their journey.
We are incredibly grateful to the National Lottery Community Fund for recognising the value of this project and helping us turn the idea into reality. This award will make a real difference to residents in Mansfield and Ashfield, giving them access to opportunities that could positively shape their next steps.
Stepping Stones is just beginning, but we are excited about its potential. We look forward to sharing updates as the project develops and celebrating the achievements of everyone who takes part.
